How to Place a Market Order on GroveX

Applies to: Web & Mobile App (Spot market)

A market order buys or sells immediately at the best available price in the order book. It prioritizes speed over exact price.

Before You Start

  • Funds ready: Have the asset you’re selling (base) or the asset you’re paying with (quote, e.g., USDT).

  • Fees: Trading fee typically 0.1% (see latest at grovex.io/en_US/fee).

  • KYC: Crypto-to-crypto may not require KYC by default, but we may request KYC at any time for security/compliance.

Quick Steps (Web & App)

  1. Open Trade

    • Go to Trade → Spot.

  2. Choose a Pair

    • Search and select the pair (e.g., BTC/USDT).

  3. Select Order Type

    • In the order panel, choose Market.

  4. Enter Size

    • Buy: Enter the amount of base you want to receive (e.g., BTC) or the total you want to spend (e.g., USDT), depending on the panel layout.

    • Sell: Enter the amount of base you want to sell.

    • (Optional) Use 25/50/75/100% shortcuts if available.

  5. Review & Confirm

    • Check Estimated total and fee.

    • Click Buy or Sell → confirm.

    • The order should fill instantly at the best available prices.

  6. Verify Fill

    • See Order/Trade History for execution details.

    • Check Balances/Wallet for updates.

What to Expect with Market Orders

  • Instant execution: Fills across current order book levels.

  • Slippage possible: Final price may differ from last seen price, especially on thin/liquid pairs or large sizes.

  • Partial fills: Rare on market orders; if liquidity is insufficient, you may fill across multiple price levels.

Tips for Better Execution

  • Check liquidity & spread: Tighter spreads and deeper books = more predictable fills.

  • Size control: Large orders can move price; consider splitting into smaller chunks.

  • Double-check asset & pair: Avoid placing on the wrong market.

Common Issues & Fixes

“Insufficient Balance”

  • Reduce size or transfer funds to Spot wallet; confirm you deposited the correct asset/network.

Order didn’t execute

  • Ensure Market is selected (not Limit).

  • Refresh page/update app; check pair status (not paused/maintenance).

Unexpected fill price

  • This is typically slippage. Review execution in Trade History; consider smaller sizes or higher-liquidity times.

Deposit shows $0

  • In Wallet, uncheck “Hide $0 Value Assets.” If still missing, submit a ticket with UID, Token, TXID, Network.

Best Practices & Safety

  • Enable 2FA (Settings → Security).

  • Verify the domain grovex.io and app publisher.

  • Start with a small test trade on new pairs.

  • Remember: crypto is volatile—only trade what you can afford to lose.
